Syrian Minister of Culture Mohammad Yassin Al-Saleh said that Syria takes pride in its culture, writers, arts, and creative figures across various fields, considering Syrian creators to be “ambassadors” of their country to the world. He stressed that the new Syrian state welcomes the return of its sons and daughters to present their creative works in their homeland.
Al-Saleh welcomed the Syrian artist Assala Nasri, praising her supportive stance toward the Syrian revolution since its beginning and the sacrifices she made in support of the Syrian people. He referred to her donation of her jewelry to provide relief to Syrians during the early stages of the revolution, describing it as “a moment of sincerity that loyal Syrians will never forget.”
The Minister of Culture added that the ministry is preparing for Assala’s first concert in “liberated” Damascus, in addition to sponsoring her new album, which carries themes of longing, joy, and hope for the return of displaced persons and refugees to their homeland.
Al-Saleh explained that the album will offer a musical journey through Syrian culture and heritage, drawing inspiration from the country’s various dialects and the authentic traditions of people from both urban and rural communities, alongside the rich traditional musical styles of Damascus, Aleppo, the Syrian coast, Homs, Daraa, Suwayda, Hasakah, Raqqa, and Deir ez-Zor.
He noted that the project aims to highlight the richness and diversity of Syrian heritage, strengthen the national spirit among Syrians, and celebrate “victory” in their collective consciousness through art and music.
