Dimasheq – Istanbul – Special:
Minister of Culture Mohammad Yassin Al-Saleh held a phone call with Syrian poet Fatima Al-Sawadi, who is currently receiving intensive care at a hospital in Istanbul. He also communicated with friends accompanying her to learn about her health condition and assess her needs. The minister directed that all necessary care and assistance be provided to her, in recognition of her literary standing and her honorable stance in support of the Syrian revolution.
Sudanese poet Ibrahim Hafez, a friend and companion of Al-Sawadi, said that her health condition had deteriorated in recent days after she had suffered from a serious illness for several years.
He added: “My sincere thanks and appreciation to His Excellency Minister of Culture Mohammad Yassin Al-Saleh for his prompt response, his phone call, and his follow-up of the condition of the ill Syrian writer in Istanbul. I also appreciate his direct attention to her until late after midnight, as well as his communication with the Syrian Embassy in Türkiye and all those concerned with providing assistance. This is a noble humanitarian gesture that reflects a genuine commitment to supporting members of the cultural and literary community during difficult circumstances.”
Hafez also thanked all the friends who showed concern, shared information, and contributed in whatever way they could to ease the situation.
Al-Sawadi is a Syrian poet and writer known for her cultural activities and interests. She traveled to Türkiye to receive medical treatment. Her condition later deteriorated, and she continued her treatment alone in Istanbul.
