During his visit to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Minister of Culture Mohammad Yassin Al-Saleh accepted an invitation from a number of Jordanian cultural, intellectual, and political figures to participate in a special dialogue session hosted by the Politics and Society Institute in Amman. The session was attended by the Institute’s Director Rasha Saleem, along with a distinguished group of writers, publishers, researchers, politicians, and heads of several Jordanian cultural organizations.

Held under the title “The New Syria: Cultural Diplomacy and Its Challenges,” the session explored the role of cultural diplomacy in promoting dialogue and openness among peoples, the key challenges facing the cultural sector and its institutions at the current stage, priorities for developing cultural policies, and the role of culture in strengthening national identity and social cohesion.

Participants also discussed prospects for advancing cultural relations between Syria and Jordan, as well as ways to revive joint cultural events and programs in line with the deep historical ties between the two brotherly peoples. They further examined opportunities for cooperation between cultural and academic institutions in both countries.

Minister Al-Saleh was also briefed on the Politics and Society Institute’s key national and regional programs and activities, particularly the work of the Syrian-Jordanian Relations Unit within its Research Department, which focuses on monitoring developments in bilateral relations, studying transformations in Syria, and expanding avenues for dialogue and cooperation.

The session concluded with an emphasis on the importance of strengthening cultural, intellectual, and research partnerships between the two sides, exchanging expertise, and launching joint initiatives that reinforce cultural communication and support the role of culture in addressing the requirements of the coming phase while further enhancing Syrian-Jordanian relations.
