Under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture, Damascus is preparing to host the first edition of the Damascus International Arabic Poetry Festival next July, in a step aimed at strengthening cultural and literary activity and highlighting Arabic poetry as one of the most significant pillars of Arab cultural identity.
The festival will serve as a cultural platform bringing together a distinguished group of poets, writers, and creative figures from various Arab and international countries. Its program will include poetry evenings, intellectual seminars, and panel discussions that shed light on contemporary poetic experiences and explore issues related to literary creativity and the role of poetry in expressing human and societal concerns.
The festival will also provide a broad space for cultural exchange and communication among participants, contributing to stronger cultural cooperation between peoples and opening new horizons for dialogue and interaction among diverse poetic schools and literary experiences.
The event comes as part of ongoing efforts to support cultural life, revive the civilizational role of Arabic poetry, and reinforce Damascus’s position as a cradle of creativity and a center for cultural and intellectual exchange, reflecting its historical significance and continuing contribution to enriching the Arab cultural scene.
The festival is expected to witness broad participation from poets, critics, and cultural enthusiasts, making it a celebration of poetic expression and an opportunity to strengthen its role in building bridges of communication and understanding among different cultures.
