Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa issued a series of presidential decisions on Sunday, including the appointment of several officials to prominent security positions, as part of efforts to restructure security institutions and strengthen the country’s security framework.
According to the decisions, Anas Khattab was appointed Director of the National Security Office, while retaining his position as Minister of Interior, reflecting the consolidation of supervision over a number of security and administrative files.
The appointments also included Hussein Al-Salama as Deputy Director of the National Security Office, while Mulham Al-Shantout was appointed Deputy Minister of Interior for Security Affairs, as part of efforts to support the ministry’s work and enhance coordination among its various departments.
The decisions further appointed Abdul Qader Tahan as Head of the General Intelligence Service, assuming leadership of the agency in the upcoming phase.
These appointments come within the framework of reorganizing the security structure, with the aim of strengthening coordination between security institutions and improving their efficiency, amid the security and administrative challenges facing the country.
