Dimasheq – Special Report
Azza, a speech therapist holding a Master’s degree in Speech and Language Pathology, works in the Speech and Language Department at Amal Khani Center for Autism and Developmental Disorders, focusing on developing children’s communication and language skills through specialized therapeutic and training sessions.
Azza explained that the department’s work focuses on two main areas: language and speech. Each child undergoes an initial assessment to determine their speech and language abilities. Children attend two sessions per week, after which an individualized treatment plan is developed, setting goals tailored to each child’s abilities and needs.
She added that the sessions include exercises designed to enhance children’s ability to communicate with others, whether through eye contact, expressing their needs using gestures and hand movements, or gradually progressing towards using words and spoken language.
She also noted that the group training room represents an important stage in the therapeutic process, as children are encouraged to use the language skills they have acquired during speech therapy sessions and apply them when interacting with those around them. This helps strengthen their communication and verbal expression skills.
