President of the Republic Mr. Ahmed Al-Sharaa inaugurated today, at the Conference Palace in Damascus, the first edition of the Syria International Textile Exhibition “Nas Tex 2026”, in the presence of several ministers and with the participation of local, Arab, and international economic and industrial figures, along with official delegations, businessmen, and representatives of the private sector.
In his speech during the opening ceremony, President Al-Sharaa emphasized that the textile sector represents one of the most important pillars of Syria’s industrial and artisanal identity, given its rich history and significant production potential. He noted that revitalizing this industry is a fundamental part of the path toward economic recovery and reconstruction, contributing to job creation, increased production, strengthening the competitiveness of Syrian industries, and enhancing their presence in regional and international markets.
He explained that supporting national industries, particularly the textile industry, is a priority at the current stage due to its role in stimulating economic activity, encouraging investment, and creating new opportunities for Syrian exports.
Following the opening ceremony, President Al-Sharaa toured the exhibition halls, reviewing the showcased textile products and industries. He listened to exhibitors’ presentations about the latest technologies and innovations in the sector, as well as the current state of the industry, its challenges, and available opportunities for development.
The Syria International Textile Exhibition “Nas Tex 2026” is being held at the New Damascus Exhibition City, with the participation of more than 300 companies representing over 20 countries. The exhibition showcases the latest products and innovations in the textile sector, including fabrics, furnishings, curtains, furniture, textile manufacturing machinery and equipment, yarns, raw materials, as well as digital transformation solutions and advanced industrial technologies.
The exhibition serves as a platform bringing together manufacturers, investors, and experts from various countries to strengthen commercial partnerships, exchange expertise, and showcase the latest developments in the textile industry. It aims to support the development of this vital sector and enhance Syria’s position on the regional textile industry map.
