The Directorate of Children’s Culture, in cooperation with the Steps Organization, inaugurated the Children’s Library at the Directorate of Culture building in Deir ez-Zor as part of efforts to support cultural initiatives for children, enhance their reading and knowledge skills, and provide a cultural environment that nurtures their intellectual and creative development.
The opening ceremony was attended by Deir ez-Zor Director of Culture Khalil Al-Aswad, along with several officials. During the event, the project team presented the library’s collection, which includes a wide range of children’s books, stories, and educational materials. They also introduced a series of specialized programs and activities that the Directorate of Children’s Culture plans to launch soon at the Directorate’s headquarters, aiming to strengthen children’s reading habits and further develop their cultural and cognitive skills.
Director of Culture in Deir ez-Zor, Khalil Al-Aswad, stated that the Children’s Library “represents the main artery for enriching children’s cultural development within the governorate,” noting that the initiative is part of a broader vision to provide safe and inspiring learning spaces for children.
Al-Aswad added that the Children’s Library model will be expanded to cultural centers across Deir ez-Zor Governorate, contributing to greater access to knowledge, strengthening children’s engagement with culture, and encouraging future generations to embrace reading and creativity.
