Minister of Culture Mohammad Yassin Al-Saleh held a meeting with directors of cultural directorates from across Syria to discuss the priorities for the next phase and mechanisms to improve institutional performance, with the aim of strengthening the role of cultural institutions and increasing their impact on society.
The minister emphasized that culture is both a moral responsibility and a national mission that contributes to building individuals and reinforcing a system of values. He stressed the importance of improving the quality of cultural content and expanding its presence within society, so that cultural institutions go beyond organizing events and become active contributors to intellectual and social development.
Al-Saleh also highlighted the need for cultural activities to have a tangible impact on people’s daily behavior and practices, with a focus on raising awareness of transitional justice, promoting the principle of “Victory Without Revenge,” and supporting social cohesion through cultural exchange visits between the country’s provinces.
He further announced preparations for the launch of a nationwide cultural competition across the governorates aimed at supporting national talents and encouraging cultural initiatives. He also underscored the importance of continuing the “Cleanliness is Culture” campaign as a civil initiative that promotes social responsibility and civic values.
During the meeting, the minister listened to presentations from the provincial cultural directors regarding the current state of cultural work and the challenges facing their directorates. He stressed the importance of strengthening coordination among all cultural directorates and continuing to improve performance in order to enhance the efficiency of cultural work and achieve its objectives.
