The Syrian capital, Damascus, is hosting the Syrian-Lebanese Roundtable on Wednesday as part of the official visit of Lebanese Minister of Economy and Trade Amer Bisat and his accompanying delegation to Syria. The meeting aims to discuss ways to strengthen economic and trade cooperation between the two countries and explore new partnership opportunities that serve their shared interests.

The roundtable follows official talks held in Damascus, where Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa received the Lebanese Minister of Economy and Trade and his delegation on Tuesday at the People’s Palace, in the presence of Syria’s Minister of Economy and Industry, Nidal al-Shaar.

The meeting focused on mechanisms to further develop economic and trade relations between Syria and Lebanon, while enhancing bilateral coordination to expand areas of cooperation in a way that benefits both countries and their peoples.

The visit comes as part of a growing process of institutional cooperation between Damascus and Beirut, following the signing of an agreement to establish the Syrian-Lebanese Higher Committee on July 2, during the visit of Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani to Lebanon.
