Dutch Foreign Minister Thomas Brandsen affirmed that Syria’s stability and security are a shared interest for both the Syrian people and the countries of the region, stressing his country’s commitment to supporting economic recovery and reconstruction efforts.

Brandsen explained that he met with President Ahmed al-Sharaa and Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani in Damascus, where discussions focused on security, stability, and economic development, as well as mechanisms to strengthen Dutch support for Syria’s recovery initiatives.

He noted that he accompanied Dutch Minister for Asylum and Migration Van den Brink during the visit to Damascus, and that the meetings reviewed ways to support the country’s recovery and reconstruction phase.

The Dutch foreign minister added that the talks resulted in an agreement to expand cooperation in the fields of reconstruction and economic development, emphasizing that achieving stability begins with strengthening security and providing equal opportunities for all members of society.
