Assistant Minister of Defense for the Eastern Region, Samir Osso (Siban Hamo), confirmed on Saturday that efforts to integrate the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) into the Ministry of Defense have resulted in the formation of four brigades, alongside ongoing work to develop an internal framework paving the way for a unified national army.
Osso clarified that the so-called “Kurdish Brigade” in Afrin falls within the broader plan to reintegrate fighters into their respective areas, noting that the next phase will focus on completing the military’s organizational structure, unifying deployments, and ending factional fragmentation.
He explained that work is underway to solidify institutional structures, in parallel with repositioning and deploying forces across the relevant geographic areas, in a manner that ensures cohesion and brings all units under a single central command.
