First Lady Latifa Al-Droubi attended a poetry evening at the National Library in Damascus at the invitation of the Ministry of Culture. The event was attended by Minister of Culture Mohammad Yassin Al-Saleh and featured a distinguished group of Syrian women poets in a celebration of literature and women’s creativity.
The evening provided a literary platform where the participating poets expressed their humanitarian and national visions through poems covering themes of homeland, identity, and human emotions, reflecting the richness of the Syrian women’s poetic experience and its contribution to the country’s cultural landscape.
The event featured poets Ibtisam Al-Sammadi, Basma Sheikho, Khozama Al-Shalabi, Alaa Mustafa Ali, and Safiya Al-Dghaim, who presented poetry that was warmly received by the audience. Their works explored humanitarian and patriotic values, as well as issues concerning women and society.
The event is part of the Ministry of Culture’s ongoing cultural program aimed at supporting the literary movement, highlighting the contributions of Syrian women creators, and strengthening the presence of poetry as one of the most significant forms of cultural expression, thereby reinforcing the role of culture as a cornerstone of public awareness and the preservation of national identity.
