The Ministry of Culture is organizing the “Damask Rose Harvest Season” event in the village of Al-Marah in the Damascus countryside on Thursday, 11 June 2026, at 7:00 a.m., as part of its efforts to preserve Syrian cultural heritage and strengthen the presence of heritage elements associated with the national identity.
The event celebrates the Damask Rose, a symbol of Syria’s rich heritage, renowned for its historical, cultural, and economic significance. It is also deeply connected to the local environment and the social traditions passed down through generations in the Qalamoun region, particularly in Al-Marah village, which is famous for cultivating the flower and producing a wide range of its derivatives.
The season will feature field tours through rose plantations, allowing visitors to observe the traditional harvesting process, alongside cultural and heritage activities highlighting the importance of the Damask Rose and its role in preserving traditional professions and crafts associated with it. The event will also showcase the flower’s natural products, which enjoy a distinguished reputation both locally and internationally.
The Ministry of Culture emphasized that the event provides an opportunity to introduce visitors and younger generations to the value of Syria’s intangible cultural heritage, while highlighting the beauty and diversity of the Syrian landscape. It also aims to raise awareness about the importance of safeguarding cultural heritage and preserving it for future generations.
The Ministry invites interested individuals, cultural organizations, and media representatives to participate in this event, which brings together the fragrance of history and the charm of nature, reflecting the authenticity and richness of Syrian heritage.
