Deputy Minister of Culture Saad Naasan met with the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Syria, Shi Hongwei, to discuss ways to strengthen cultural cooperation between the two countries and enhance partnership in several areas of mutual interest.
During the meeting, both sides affirmed the strength of the long-standing historical relations between Damascus and Beijing and stressed the importance of advancing cultural cooperation through organizing reciprocal cultural weeks, holding lectures and seminars, expanding translation and training programs, strengthening collaboration in the fields of cinema and theater, and exploring the establishment of a Chinese Cultural Center in Damascus.
For his part, the Chinese ambassador praised Syria’s rich cultural heritage and its historical role as one of the key stops along the ancient Silk Road. He reaffirmed China’s commitment to expanding cultural exchange and expressed his country’s readiness to provide training programs and support joint initiatives with Syrian cultural institutions.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to prepare an implementation plan to follow up on cooperation projects, with the aim of strengthening cultural ties between Syria and China and opening new horizons for joint collaboration.
