Dimasheq – Politics

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has appointed diplomat Ghazi Al-Anazi as its ambassador to the Syrian Arab Republic, succeeding former ambassador Faisal Al-Mujfel, in a move that comes as part of efforts to complete diplomatic representation between the two countries.

Al-Anazi took the constitutional oath on Tuesday before Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, ahead of presenting his credentials and officially assuming his duties in the Syrian capital, Damascus.

The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported that Al-Anazi and a number of newly appointed ambassadors took the oath before the Crown Prince, on behalf of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, before assuming their diplomatic missions in the countries to which they have been appointed.

The new ambassador has extensive diplomatic experience. He has held the rank of Minister Plenipotentiary at the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 2020. He previously served as Director General of the General Department for Arab Countries at the ministry and also worked as Deputy Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
