From Damascus to Aleppo, and from Latakia and Tartus to Homs, Hama, Idlib, Deir ez-Zor, Hasakah, Suwayda, Daraa, Quneitra and Raqqa, the eyes of Syrian theater artists are turning toward Aleppo, which is preparing to host Syria’s Theater Festival 2026. The event will bring together theater professionals, artists and enthusiasts from across the country.
The festival comes as a space for meeting and exchanging experiences, and for reconnecting the theatrical paths that have extended across Syria’s provinces, carrying diverse artistic experiences, emerging voices and a rich legacy accumulated by Syrian theater over decades.
From every province, from every stage where performances have taken place, and from every dream launched by an artist in a small hall or on a grand stage, participants are making their way to Aleppo, where this time the gathering will take place in a city deeply rooted in culture and the arts.
Aleppo is opening its doors to welcome theater professionals from across the provinces in an event that seeks to make theater a shared space for artists and audiences, strengthen the presence of Syrian theater, and provide theater groups and artists with an opportunity to present their experiences and engage with those of their peers.
The festival carries a message that goes beyond theatrical performances, serving as an occasion to celebrate Syrian artists and theater as one of the most important forms of cultural and artistic expression, as well as a means of dialogue, communication and restoring shared spaces among members of Syria’s cultural scene.
