The Syrian Ministry of Culture is participating as the Guest of Honor at the 11th edition of the Istanbul International Arabic Book Fair, hosted by the Turkish city of Istanbul from August 15 to 23, 2026, with the participation of a number of Arab publishing houses and cultural institutions.
The ministry is represented at the fair by the General Syrian Book Organization and the Syrian National Library. The participation aims to introduce Syrian cultural and intellectual production, make Syrian books accessible to readers and those interested in Turkey, and strengthen cultural communication among institutions, writers, and publishers.
The General Syrian Book Organization is participating with around 200 titles covering a wide range of fields, including literature, thought, translation, studies, and various areas of knowledge. Around 30 of these titles are aimed at children, reflecting the diversity of Syrian publications and the range of interests they address.
Held over nine days, the fair provides a space for cultural meetings and direct interaction among readers, writers, and publishers, as well as opportunities to showcase Arab publications and organize events and activities related to books and culture.
The Syrian Ministry of Culture’s participation in the fair represents an opportunity to highlight the presence of Syrian books at Arab and international cultural events, introduce part of the Syrian cultural scene and its latest publications, and create opportunities for further cooperation and cultural exchange between Syrian institutions and their Arab and Turkish counterparts.
Thus, Syrian books will be present in Istanbul for nine days, bringing with them titles in literature, thought, and knowledge, and making them available to readers at one of Turkey’s most prominent events dedicated to Arabic books.
