As part of its participation in the Istanbul International Arab Book Fair, the Syrian Ministry of Culture held a panel discussion titled “The Role of Cultural Institutions in Shaping National Identity,” with the participation of Deputy Minister of Culture Saad Naassan, Director of the National Library Saeed Hijazi, and Director of Exhibitions at the National Book Authority Marhef Abdul Jawad.
The panel addressed the role of cultural institutions in building national awareness and preserving cultural memory, as well as promoting the presence of Syrian books and culture. It also discussed the role of these institutions in consolidating national identity and strengthening openness to the Arab and international cultural spheres.
The participants emphasized the importance of culture as one of the fundamental components in shaping awareness and identity, as well as the role of cultural institutions in supporting Syrian intellectual and literary production and making it accessible to audiences both inside and outside Syria.
