Dimasheq – Culture
Syrian Minister of Culture Mohammed Yassin Al-Saleh launched the Directorate of Research, Translation and Publishing at the Syrian National Library during an official ceremony held as part of the Ministry of Culture’s vision to develop the country’s cultural and knowledge infrastructure, promote academic research, and invigorate translation and publishing in line with the requirements of the current phase and the goals of cultural development in Syria.
The establishment of the Directorate represents a new step toward supporting intellectual production, encouraging specialized studies and research, expanding translation efforts, and publishing works that contribute to enriching the Arab library. It also seeks to strengthen cooperation among cultural and research institutions, reinforcing the role of culture in raising awareness and preserving national identity.
The ceremony also witnessed the launch of the first issue of “Heritage and Libraries” magazine, a specialized publication focusing on heritage and library affairs. The magazine aims to publish academic studies and research, document cultural heritage, highlight efforts to preserve heritage and manage libraries, and keep pace with scientific and professional developments in the sector.
These initiatives are part of the Ministry of Culture’s strategy to develop its knowledge-based institutions and provide specialized academic platforms that support researchers and those interested in the field. They also seek to promote writing, translation, and knowledge dissemination, contributing positively to Syria’s cultural landscape and strengthening its presence both locally and across the Arab world.
