Deputy Minister of Culture Saad Naassan conducted an inspection tour of the Martyr Yousef Al-Azmeh Museum in Damascus to assess the museum’s current condition and needs, and to follow up on efforts to document its collections and prepare a technical study paving the way for restoration and rehabilitation works.
Naassan was accompanied during the tour by a team from the Documentation Center specializing in documenting the museum’s collections, as well as an engineering team working on a comprehensive technical study to assess the current condition of the building and its facilities and identify the necessary requirements for its preservation and development.
During the tour, the Deputy Minister of Culture reviewed the condition of the museum and its facilities and received a briefing on the stages of documenting the collections and the procedures followed in preparing the technical assessment of the museum. This work is intended to help establish a clear vision for the restoration and rehabilitation works required.
Naassan also discussed ways to restore and rehabilitate the museum in a manner that preserves its historical and national significance, safeguards its collections, and strengthens its role in preserving national memory and introducing visitors to the legacy of Martyr Yousef Al-Azmeh and his sacrifices.
These efforts come as part of the ongoing attention to sites and museums of historical and national value, and efforts to protect and rehabilitate them in line with their cultural and heritage significance, ensuring that they remain an integral part of Syria’s historical memory.
