Customs officers at the Al-Tanf border crossing successfully foiled an attempt to smuggle a large shipment of weapons, missiles, and unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) concealed inside an oil tanker bound for the city of Baniyas. The operation comes as part of the ongoing efforts by the General Authority for Border Crossings and Customs to combat smuggling and strengthen national security.
The seizure took place during routine inspection and verification procedures conducted on vehicles and cargo passing through the border crossing. Customs officers became suspicious of one of the oil tankers, prompting a thorough inspection. The search resulted in the discovery of a large cache of weapons, missiles, and drones that had been professionally concealed in an apparent attempt to evade customs inspections and security measures.
Following the seizure and the completion of the necessary legal documentation, the shipment was handed over to the competent authorities to continue the investigation and take the appropriate legal action against those involved.
The General Authority for Border Crossings and Customs reaffirmed its commitment to combating all forms of smuggling by strengthening customs control measures and maintaining a high level of operational readiness, contributing to the protection of national security and public safety.
