As part of his official visit to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Syrian Minister of Culture Mohammad Yassin Al-Saleh visited the historic site of Jabal Al-Qal’a (Amman Citadel) in the Jordanian capital. The tour aimed to explore some of the Kingdom’s most prominent historical and archaeological landmarks, reflecting the richness of its cultural heritage and supporting prospects for stronger cultural cooperation between the two countries.
The visit began with a tour of the Umayyad Palace, one of the most significant archaeological monuments within the Citadel, where the Minister received a briefing on the site’s historical and architectural importance. The palace stands as a testament to the succession of civilizations that flourished in the region and its role in preserving historical memory and the shared human heritage.
The tour also included a visit to the Jordan Museum, where the Minister was welcomed by the Museum’s Director General, Ihab Ammarin. He presented a comprehensive overview of the museum’s galleries and archaeological collections, which document Jordan’s history from prehistoric times through successive civilizations to the modern era, as well as the museum’s efforts to preserve and safeguard the nation’s cultural heritage.
The visit forms part of the Minister’s program in Jordan, which includes a series of meetings and cultural tours aimed at strengthening cultural cooperation and exchanging expertise. These efforts contribute to deepening cultural ties between Syria and Jordan while highlighting the importance of the shared Arab heritage as a foundation for dialogue and closer relations between peoples.
