Dimasheq ـ Culture
The new issue of “Al-Sham Magazine” has been published, featuring a collection of articles, interviews, and thematic files addressing culture, memory, and transitional justice, alongside a variety of intellectual and artistic topics.
Under the “Issues and Opinions” section, the magazine presents a special file titled “The Role of Culture in the Transitional Justice Process,” which examines the contributions of literature, art, theatre, cinema, documentation, and local memory to uncovering the truth, documenting testimonies, confronting denial and oblivion, as well as restoring trust and strengthening social cohesion.
The file features contributions by Dr. Mohammad Khair Mousa, Fadel Abdul Ghany, Lubaba Al-Hawari, Wissam Shahla, Asaad Farzat, Jaber Bakr, Fares Al-Dhahabi, Abdulrahman Al-Kilani, and Yasmin Marei.
The “Issue File” focuses on the theme “Introducing Syrians to Syrians,” through readings that seek to rebuild mutual knowledge among Syrians, strengthen communication between those inside the country and the diaspora, and highlight the diversity of Syrian environments, memories, and stories.
The file includes contributions by Dr. Ahmad Barqawi, Dr. Kinda Hawasli, Dr. Abdulbasit Seida, Dr. Nawar Najmeh, Batoul Hadifa, and Maryam Hujair.
In the “Guest of Al-Sham” section, the issue hosts Mubarak Al Khalifa, Editor-in-Chief of “Al Doha” Magazine. Meanwhile, the “Syrian Figures” section features an interview with researcher and professor of ancient languages and ancient history, Dr. Mohammad Bahjat Qubaisi, highlighting his academic and intellectual career and his research project.
The issue, published in a double edition, also includes articles addressing theatre, cinema, visual arts, and the memory of the Syrian revolution, in addition to the magazine’s regular cultural sections.
