As part of its ongoing cultural activities, the Cultural Salon invites you to attend a special dialogue evening with Syrian writer and novelist Mariya Dadouch, to discuss issues of children’s literature and creative writing, as well as the experience of diaspora and the questions it raises about identity and belonging. The discussion will also address the challenges facing Syrian children today amid rapid social and cultural transformations.
Mariya Dadouch is considered one of the leading contemporary Arab literary voices in the field of children’s literature and fiction. She has a rich creative career through which she has received several prestigious Arab awards, including the Katara Prize for Arabic Novel, the Sheikh Zayed Book Award, and the Abdul Hameed Shoman Award. She is also actively present in the Arab and international cultural scene through her publications and intellectual and literary contributions.
This evening opens a space for dialogue and discussion on the role of literature in shaping awareness and building identity, and the importance of writing in preserving collective memory and creating hope for future generations. It also allows participants to ask questions and engage directly with the guest speaker.
