The Ministry of Health announced an additional financial grant of $1 million to support Palmyra National Hospital, strengthen its capabilities, and improve the level of healthcare services provided there, under the direction of President Ahmad al-Sharaa.

The grant was announced during a visit by Minister of Health Musab al-Ali to Palmyra National Hospital, accompanied by Homs Health Director Khaled al-Homsi and a delegation from the Al-Ameen Organization for Humanitarian Assistance.

The organization’s delegation explained that the grant is part of efforts to support the hospital and enhance the quality of medical care provided to residents of Palmyra and surrounding areas. The initiative is intended to improve healthcare services and address the medical needs of local residents.

During the visit, Minister al-Ali reviewed the hospital’s operations and medical services and heard about the main needs and challenges facing medical staff. He also discussed ways to further develop the healthcare services provided to the local population.

The visit also included the opening of a dialysis unit at the hospital. The unit currently has five dialysis machines, with the possibility of increasing the number to ten in the future, expanding the services available to patients suffering from kidney failure in the region.

Wasel al-Jarak, Director of Health Facilities at the Ministry of Health, said that opening the unit will provide medical care for patients with kidney failure and reduce the burden of travel on patients and their families. He noted that having treatment available locally could also help residents and those who were forced to leave Palmyra return and settle closer to their home areas while receiving the necessary healthcare.
