The Syrian-Chinese Business Council, in cooperation with the “Suzhou Land” Group and “Groveast” Investment and Entrepreneurship Company, has overseen the launch of the Syrian International Business Center for Smart Industrial Cities in the city of Changshu. This step aims to support industrial development and contribute to Syria’s reconstruction efforts by transferring Chinese expertise in developing smart industrial cities and strengthening economic and investment cooperation between the two countries.

The inauguration of the center comes as a result of a cooperation agreement between the two sides to develop and operate it, in addition to implementing twinning programs between Syrian and Chinese industrial cities, transferring industrial technology and expertise, and attracting high-quality investments that contribute to supporting economic development in Syria.

The launch ceremony was attended by the Chargé d’Affaires of Syria in Beijing, Mohammed Zakaria Lababidi, the Syrian Consul Ahmed Qar Ali, the Mayor of Changshu, Zhang Wei, the Chairman of Suzhou Land Group, Yi Feng, along with a number of officials, investors, and businesspeople from Syria and China.

The Chairman of the Syrian-Chinese Business Council, Fadi Al-Ahmad Al-Muhimid, emphasized that the center represents a strategic step toward consolidating an industrial and developmental partnership between the two countries, noting that the first phase includes launching two smart cities specialized in the furniture industry in the cities of Aleppo and Damascus, with future plans to expand into establishing specialized industrial cities across various Syrian provinces.

Participants from both the Syrian and Chinese sides also stressed the importance of the center in enhancing industrial and investment cooperation, exchanging expertise, and transferring technology, in a way that supports sustainable development projects in Syria.
