The Minister of Culture, Mohammed Yassin Al-Saleh, condemned the killing of the children of the late Dr. Rania al-Abbasi, affirming that this tragedy will remain a testament to the scale of crimes committed against Syrians during the years of authoritarian rule.
In a statement, Al-Saleh said:
“They carried nothing but their small dreams and innocent smiles, yet they were confronted by a killing machine that knows no mercy and does not distinguish between a child and an elder, or between a man and a woman. The question that will continue to haunt the oppressors in this world and the hereafter remains: for what sin were they killed?”
He added that the government and the Syrian people pledge to the martyrs and their families that their sacrifices will remain a trust carried upon their shoulders, and that efforts will continue to entrench justice and the rule of law until rights are restored and those responsible for crimes committed against Syrians are held accountable.
The minister also paid tribute to Syria’s martyrs, recalling children who became symbols of pain and innocence, including Hamza al-Khatib, Alan Kurdi, and the children of Dr. Rania al-Abbasi, stressing that their names will remain present in the national memory as witnesses to the truth.
Al-Saleh concluded by affirming that the blood of the victims will not be in vain, and that achieving justice will remain a national goal until a state of rights and dignity is built, emphasizing that the memory of the martyrs will remain alive as long as Syria exists.
