The Ministry of Culture participated in a national workshop dedicated to discussing the role of youth, religious leaders, content creators, and influencers in raising public awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and addiction in Syria. The workshop was held as part of ongoing national efforts aimed at preventing the spread of this social challenge and mitigating its negative impact on individuals and society.
The Ministry joined representatives from several governmental bodies and national institutions, including the Ministries of Interior, Social Affairs and Labor, Health, Endowments, Information, Sports and Youth, Higher Education, and Education. This broad participation reflected the importance of coordination and integrated efforts among all relevant stakeholders in addressing drug-related challenges and promoting a culture of prevention.
The workshop featured an extensive panel discussion on the themes and objectives of the national awareness campaign on drug abuse and addiction. Participants emphasized the importance of engaging all segments of society in awareness initiatives and strengthening partnerships between governmental and community institutions to reach the widest possible audience, particularly young people. Discussions also focused on fostering a sense of social responsibility and highlighting the role of cultural, religious, and media discourse in spreading awareness and correcting misconceptions related to this issue.
In addition, the workshop included interactive group sessions dedicated to presenting and discussing practical ideas and initiatives aimed at increasing awareness of the dangers of drug abuse and addiction. Participants explored ways to develop educational programs and awareness activities targeting various age groups, while supporting national efforts in prevention, control, and community protection.
Participants stressed the importance of early awareness and education, intensifying public awareness campaigns, and enhancing the role of educational, cultural, religious, and media institutions in delivering preventive messages. These efforts, they noted, contribute to protecting young people from the risks of addiction and safeguarding the security and stability of society.
The Ministry of Culture’s participation in the workshop stems from its commitment to promoting cultural and social awareness and supporting national initiatives that encourage positive values and healthy behaviors. Such efforts contribute to building a safe and stable environment that offers young people greater opportunities for participation, creativity, and development.
