The Ministry of Energy announced on Saturday the reactivation of 11 drinking water pumping stations in Deir ez-Zor Governorate, after they had been temporarily dismantled as a precautionary measure due to fears of flooding caused by rising water levels in the Euphrates River during the past period.
The ministry explained that the General Company for Water and Wastewater in Deir ez-Zor completed the reinstallation and operation of the stations located on both sides of the river, as part of ongoing efforts to ensure the continuity of water services and meet the needs of residents in affected areas.
The reactivated stations in the Al-Jazeera area include the stations of Gharanij (Al-Mahariyaj), Al-Kashkiya (the first), and Al-Hajna in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, in addition to Al-Hariji, Al-Harijiya, Al-Sour main station, Al-Rubaida, Al-Ja’ar, and Abu Al-Nitel in the northern countryside of the governorate. The Ramadi and Al-Salihiya stations located in the Al-Shamiya area in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor were also reactivated.
The ministry confirmed that technical and engineering teams are continuing fieldwork to secure water station infrastructure and protect it from any potential risks, in addition to completing the necessary procedures to reactivate the remaining suspended stations as soon as possible, ensuring the stability of drinking water services for residents.
These measures come as part of the relevant authorities’ plan to address the impacts of fluctuations in the Euphrates River level and to maintain the readiness of vital water facilities, contributing to the continuity of essential services across various areas of Deir ez-Zor Governorate.
