Intensive Efforts to Revitalize Education in the Eastern Provinces and the Return of Hundreds of Thousands of Students to School
The Minister of Education, Mohammad Abdul Rahman Turko, affirmed that the eastern provinces are facing significant challenges as a result of years of neglect during the previous regime, in addition to disruptions in the educational process and extensive damage to infrastructure affecting both students and teachers.
In a press statement, Turko explained that the ministry has intensified its efforts since the beginning of this year to improve the state of education in the liberated areas. Within just one hundred days, it has successfully reopened 2,236 schools and facilitated the return of more than 500,000 students to classrooms. Furthermore, around 38,000 educational and administrative staff have resumed their duties, 42 educational complexes have been brought back into operation, and salaries have been disbursed to those who have completed the necessary procedures.
He also noted that the ministry has developed an emergency response plan in coordination with relevant authorities. This plan aims to rehabilitate infrastructure, ensure access to education for all children, and address learning loss through staff training and the implementation of remedial educational programs during the summer break.
